Verelan Dosing: An Introduction
The dose of
Verelan® (
verapamil HCL) your healthcare provider recommends will vary depending on a number of factors, including:
- Your age
- Your medical condition
- Other medications you may be currently taking
- The form of Verelan you are prescribed.
As is always the case, do not adjust your dose unless your healthcare provider specifically instructs you to do so.
Verelan Dosing Guidelines for Hypertension
The recommended starting dose of Verelan is Verelan 240 mg, once a day, in the morning.
After 7 to 14 days, if you have not reached your goal, your healthcare provider may choose to increase your dose, up to 480 mg daily, or down to Verelan 120 mg daily.
If you are over 65 years of age, your healthcare provider may choose to start you on a lower dosage, such as Verelan 120 mg once a day.
Do not stop taking Verelan without first discussing it with your healthcare provider.
If you are unsure about anything about Verelan dosing, please talk to your doctor, nurse, or pharmacist.
