Tribenzor Uses

Tribenzor is prescribed for the treatment of high blood pressure in adults. As a combination of three prescription blood pressure medications, Tribenzor works by relaxing the blood vessels, improving blood flow, and reducing blood volume. Clinical studies have shown that using Tribenzor is more effective at lowering blood pressure than taking two of the individual Tribenzor components alone.

What Is Tribenzor Used For?

Tribenzor™ (olmesartan medoxomil/amlodipine/hydrochlorothiazide) is a prescription medication licensed to treat high blood pressure. It combines three prescription blood pressure medications into one pill -- olmesartan (Benicar®), amlodipine (Norvasc®), and hydrochlorothiazide (or HCTZ for short).
Tribenzor is not approved for use as the first medication to treat high blood pressure. Instead, it is used in people who are already taking two blood pressure medicines similar to the Tribenzor components and need additional blood pressure control. Tribenzor may also be a good option for people who are already taking olmesartan, amlodipine, and HCTZ as three separate pills, and would prefer to take just one pill.

Using Tribenzor for High Blood Pressure

Blood pressure is a measure of the force inside your blood vessels -- both while the heart is beating and while it is relaxed. High blood pressure, known medically as hypertension, is when the force is too high. When you have high blood pressure, your heart has to work harder to pump blood through your body.
A blood pressure reading consists of two numbers, a systolic number (the top number) and a diastolic number (the bottom number). The systolic number is a measure of blood pressure when the heart is beating. The diastolic number is a measure of blood pressure when the heart is relaxed.
High blood pressure is usually defined as an average blood pressure higher than 140/90, over multiple blood pressure readings. However, in some cases, the goal blood pressure might be lower. For example, experts normally recommend that people with diabetes keep their blood pressure below 130/80.
Most people with high blood pressure do not have any symptoms. However, even without symptoms, high blood pressure can damage many of the body's vital organs, including the eyes, heart, brain, and kidneys. Because of this damage, untreated high blood pressure may lead to serious health problems, such as:

In clinical studies, the combination medication Tribenzor lowered blood pressure more effectively than taking two of the individual Tribenzor components alone. For example, in these studies, people given Tribenzor had greater reductions in their blood pressure than people given olmesartan and amlodipine, olmesartan and HCTZ, or amlodipine and HCTZ. By lowering blood pressure, Tribenzor can decrease the risk of developing the health problems associated with long-term hypertension.
