Tribenzor Drug Interactions

More Detail on Tribenzor Drug Interactions

The following sections explain in detail the potentially negative reactions that can occur when Tribenzor is combined with any of the drugs listed above.

ACE Inhibitors
Taking an ACE inhibitor with Tribenzor may increase your risk for severely low blood pressure (hypotension), high blood potassium (hyperkalemia), or kidney problems. If you take these medications together, your healthcare provider should closely monitor your blood pressure, potassium levels, and kidney function.

Alcohol
Drinking alcohol with Tribenzor may cause your blood pressure to decrease too much. If you consume alcohol while taking this medication, watch for symptoms of low blood pressure, such as dizziness, lightheadedness, or fainting. If you experience any of these symptoms, contact your healthcare provider.

Angiotensin II Receptor Blockers (ARBs)
Tribenzor contains an ARB (olmesartan) and should generally not be combined with other ARBs, as this could increase the risk for high blood potassium or other side effects, such as kidney problems and very low blood pressure.

Barbiturates
Taking a barbiturate with Tribenzor may cause your blood pressure to decrease too much. If you take these medications together, your healthcare provider may need to monitor you more closely or lower your Tribenzor dose.

Bile Acid Sequestrant Cholesterol Medications
Bile acid sequestrant medications can bind to Tribenzor in the gastrointestinal tract and decrease the amount of Tribenzor absorbed into the body. To help minimize this interaction, take Tribenzor at least one hour before or four to six hours after a bile acid sequestrant.

Calcium Channel Blockers
Tribenzor contains a calcium channel blocker (amlodipine). Therefore, it should generally not be combined with other calcium channel blockers, as this could increase the risk for very low blood pressure, or other side effects, such as dizziness and swelling (edema).
