Drug Interactions With Torsemide

When various medications are taken together, there is a chance of developing drug interactions. With torsemide, an interaction can occur if the drug is taken with some antibiotics, NSAIDs, or other blood pressure medications, among other drugs. Some of these drug interactions with torsemide can make torsemide less effective or may lead to certain side effects, such as extremely low blood pressure or low potassium levels.

Drug Interactions With Torsemide: An Introduction

 Torsemide (Demadex®) can interact with a number of other medicines. Some of the drugs that can lead to torsemide interactions include:
 
  • Aminoglycoside antibiotics, such as:
o Amikacin (Amikin®)
o Gentamicin
o Kanamycin (Kantrex®)
o Neomycin (Neo-Fradin®)
o Streptomycin
o Tobramycin
o Ibuprofen (Motrin®, Advil®)
o Indomethacin (Indocin®, Indocin SR®)
  • Probenecid (Benemid®, ColBenemid®)
  • Salicylates, such as:
o Aspirin (Ecotrin®, Bayer®, Anacin®)
o Choline magnesium trisalicylate (Trilisate®)
o Salsalate (Salflex®, Disalcid®, Amigesic®).
