Toprol Strengths

A healthcare provider may prescribe Toprol® (short for
 Toprol-XL®) to treat various conditions affecting the heart and blood vessels. Specifically, this medication is approved for treating high blood pressure, angina, and congestive heart failure.
 
The medication comes in the form of a tablet and is typically taken once a day. There are several strengths of Toprol available, including:
 
  • Toprol-XL 25 mg
  • Toprol-XL 50 mg
  • Toprol-XL 100 mg
  • Toprol-XL 200 mg.
     
You should take your Toprol tablet either with food or immediately following a meal. Make sure to take your dosage at the same time each day to maintain an even level in your blood. Do not stop taking the medication without first discussing it with your healthcare provider. Stopping it abruptly increases the risk for serious side effects.
