Toprol Drug Information

Before beginning treatment, drug information on Toprol® (short for
 Toprol-XL®) should be fully reviewed with your healthcare provider. This prescription medication is approved for treating various conditions that affect the heart and blood vessels, such as high blood pressure, angina symptoms, and congestive heart failure.
 
Although most people do not have any problems while taking this medicine, Toprol is not suitable for everyone. For instance, you may not be able to use it safely if you have certain medical conditions, such as kidney disease, diabetes, or asthma. Be sure to tell your healthcare provider if you are currently taking any other drugs (including vitamins, herbal supplements, and nonprescription medications).
 
The drug comes in the form of tablets and is typically taken once a day. Most people tolerate this product well. When side effects do occur, they are generally mild and are easily treated. Some of the common side effects reported with Toprol include dizziness, tiredness, and diarrhea.
