Tekamlo Drug Interactions

Tekamlo Drug Interactions Explained

The following sections explain in detail the potentially negative reactions that can occur when Tekamlo is combined with any of the drugs listed above.

ACE Inhibitors
Taking Tekamlo with an ACE inhibitor may increase your risk of high blood potassium (hyperkalemia), a dangerous problem. If you must take these medications together, your healthcare provider should monitor your potassium levels using a simple blood test.

Combining these medications may also increase the risk of dangerously low blood pressure (hypotension) and kidney failure. Tekamlo should never be combined with an ACE inhibitor in people with diabetes, because they may have a higher risk for these complications. Also, such combinations are not recommended for people with moderate-to-severe kidney problems.

Angiotensin II Receptor Blockers (ARBs)
Combining Tekamlo with an ARB may increase your risk of high blood potassium (hyperkalemia), which is a dangerous problem. If you must take these medications together, your healthcare provider should monitor your potassium levels during treatment.

Combining these medications may also increase the risk of dangerously low blood pressure (hypotension) and kidney failure. Tekamlo should never be combined with an ARB in people with diabetes, because they may have a higher risk for these complications. Also, such combinations are not recommended for people with moderate-to-severe kidney problems.

Atorvastatin Products (Lipitor, Caduet)
Atorvastatin can increase the level of Tekamlo in the blood by as much as 50 percent. This could increase your risk of Tekamlo side effects. Your healthcare provider may need to adjust your Tekamlo dosage if you start or stop taking atorvastatin, although this may not be necessary in many cases.
