Tarka Drug Interactions

Some of the drugs that can potentially interact with Tarka include carbamazepine, potassium supplements or salts substitutes with potassium, and potassium-sparing diuretics (such as spironolactone and amiloride). These drug interactions can cause your body to metabolize the medications differently than intended, decrease blood pressure too much, and cause side effects like double vision and balance problems, among other things. Be sure to talk to your healthcare provider about any drug interactions that may apply to you.

An Overview of Drug Interactions With Tarka

 Tarka® (trandolapril/verapamil hydrochloride ER) can potentially interact with a number of other medicines. Some of these medications that may interact with Tarka include (but are not limited to):
 
 
  • Carbamazepine (Carbatrol®, Epitol®, Equetro®, Tegretol®, Tegretol XR®)
  • Certain arrhythmia medications, including:
     
    • Amiodarone (Cordarone®)
    • Dofetilide (Tikosyn®)
    • Disopyramide (Norpace®, Norpace CR®)
    • Flecainide (Tambocor™)
    • Quinidine
    • Sotalol (Betapace®)

 

 
 
  
  • Phenobarbital (Luminal®)
  • Potassium-containing products, such as:
     
    • Potassium chloride (K-Dur®, Klor-Con®, Micro-K®)
    • Potassium citrate (Urocit-K®, Polycitra-K®)
    • Potassium gluconate
    • Potassium phosphate (Neutra-Phos-K®, K-Phos®)
    • Salt substitutes (used to flavor food)
 
 
  • Rifampin (Rifadin®, Rimactane®, Rofact®)
  • Theophylline (Uniphyl®, Theocron®, TheoCap®, Theo-24®, Elixophyllin®).
