More Detail on Quinaretic Interactions
Other Blood Pressure Medicine
When
Quinaretic is taken with another
high blood pressure medication, your
blood pressure may decrease too much. In order to decrease your chances of experiencing this Quinaretic interaction, your healthcare provider may monitor you more closely, change the dose of either medicine, or both.
Diuretics (Lasix, Demadex)
When you are taking Quinaretic with a diuretic, your blood pressure may decrease too much. This is more likely to occur when you first start taking Quinaretic. In order to decrease your chances of experiencing this interaction, your healthcare provider may change the dose of either medicine, start you on a lower dose of Quinaretic, and/or monitor you more closely.
Nonsteroidal Anti-Inflammatory Drugs (NSAIDs)
If you have kidney disease or kidney failure, taking
NSAIDs with Quinaretic may add to the damage that your kidneys are already suffering. Also, NSAIDs may decrease the blood pressure-lowering effects of Quinaretic. Talk to your healthcare provider about using NSAIDs and Quinaretic together in your situation.
Potassium Supplements or Salt Substitutes With Potassium
If you are taking Quinaretic with a potassium supplement or a salt substitute with potassium, the levels of potassium in your blood may become too high. This can cause serious problems. Ask your healthcare provider about using potassium and Quinaretic together in your particular situation.
Potassium-Sparing Diuretics (Dyrenium, Aldactone, Midamor)
If you are taking both Quinaretic and a potassium-sparing diuretic, your body may metabolize them differently than intended, increase the levels of potassium in your blood, or both. Your healthcare provider may choose to monitor your progress closely.
