Propranolol XL comes in capsule form. It is usually taken by mouth once a day at bedtime (approximately 10 p.m.).
You can take the medicine with a meal or on an empty stomach. However, you should consistently take it the same way each time (either with or without food).
Swallow the capsules whole. Do not chew, crush, or open the capsules.
For the medication to work properly, it must be taken as prescribed. Propranolol XL will not work if you stop taking it.
