Prinzide Drug Interactions
If alcohol or certain blood pressure medicines are taken together with Prinzide, drug interactions may potentially occur. Drug interactions with Prinzide can also occur with barbiturates, nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), oral diabetes medicines, or corticosteroids. Prinzide drug interactions may cause a variety of side effects such as extremely low blood pressure, increased blood sugar levels, and electrolyte imbalances.
Prinzide® (lisinopril-hydrochlorothiazide) potentially has a number of other medicines with which it may interact. Some potential Prinzide interactions may involve:
- Aliskiren (Tekturna®) or aliskiren combination medications (Tekamlo®, Tekturna HCT®, Amturnide®)
- Angiotensin II receptor blockers (ARBs), such as:
- Azilsartan (Edarbi™) or azilsartan/chlorthalidone (Edarbiclor™)
- Candesartan (Atacand®) or candesartan-hydrochlorothiazide (Atacand HCT®)
- Eprosartan (Teveten®) or eprosartan-hydrochlorothiazide (Teveten® HCT)
- Irbesartan (Avapro®) or irbesartan-hydrochlorothiazide (Avalide®)
- Losartan (Cozaar®) or losartan-hydrochlorothiazide (Hyzaar®)
- Olmesartan (Benicar®), olmesartan-hydrochlorothiazide (Benicar HCT®), or amlodipine and olmesartan (AZOR™)
- Telmisartan (Micardis®) or telmisartan-hydrochlorothiazide (Micardis® HCT)
- Valsartan (Diovan®) or valsartan-hydrochlorothiazide (Diovan HCT®)
- Diuretics, such as torsemide (Demadex®), furosemide (Lasix®), and others
- Nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), such as:
- Potassium supplements or salt substitutes with potassium
- Potassium-sparing diuretics, such as spironolactone (Aldactone®), triamterene (Dyrenium®), and amiloride (Midamor®), among others
- Lithium (Eskalith®, Lithane®, Lithonate®, Lithotabs®)
- Gold (sodium aurothiomalate)
- Insulin
- Oral diabetes medication
- Other blood pressure medicines
- Alcohol
- Barbiturates, such as:
- Narcotics, such as codeine, morphine, oxycodone, and hydrocodone
- Cholestyramine (Prevalite®, Questran®, Questran® Light, LoCholest®)
- Colestipol (Colestid®)
- Corticosteroids, such as prednisone, hydrocortisone (Cortef®), dexamethasone (Decadron®, Dexone®, Hexadrol®), and many others
- Norepinephrine
- Corticotropin (Acthar®)
- Muscle relaxants, such as tubocurarine.
