Generic Prinzide

Some people may wonder, "Is there a generic for Prinzide?" Generic Prinzide, which is sold under the name Lisinopril and Hydrochlorothiazide tablets, is available in several different strengths. In the case of Prinzide, generic forms of the drug are manufactured by several companies, such as Watson Pharmaceuticals, Mylan Laboratories, and Teva Pharmaceuticals.

Is There a Generic for Prinzide?

Prinzide® (lisinopril-hydrochlorothiazide) is a prescription medication that has been licensed to treat high blood pressure (hypertension). Prinzide is a combination of two medicines -- Prinivil® and hydrochlorothiazide.
 
Prinzide was originally developed by Merck & Co. It has since come off patent, making it available as a generic.
 

Generic Prinzide -- Strengths

Generic Prinzide is sold under the name Lisinopril and Hydrochlorothiazide tablets. It is also known as Lisinopril-Hydrochlorothiazide or Lisinopril HCTZ. It is available in several strengths, including:
 
  • Lisinopril HCTZ 10 mg/12.5 mg -- which has 10 mg of lisinopril and 12.5 mg of hydrochlorothiazide
     
  • Lisinopril HCTZ 20 mg/12.5 mg -- which has 20 mg of lisinopril and 12.5 mg of hydrochlorothiazide
     
  • Lisinopril HCTZ 20 mg/25 mg -- which has 20 mg of lisinopril and 25 mg of hydrochlorothiazide.
