Norvasc Negative Side Effects
Some patients may develop negative side effects of Norvasc® (amlodipine besylate). However, not everyone experiences side effects, and when these side effects do occur, they are usually easily treated.
According to research studies, 1.5 percent of people taking Norvasc stopped their medicine because of negative side effects.
Some common negative side effects of Norvasc include:
- Swelling
- Headache (see Norvasc and Headache)
- Muscle pain
- Difficulty swallowing
- Dizziness
- Facial flushing.
In some cases, more serious (but rare) side effects may occur. These rare Norvasc side effects may include:
- Chest pain
- Slow heart rate (bradycardia)
- Extremely low blood pressure
- Anxiety
- Diarrhea
- Depression (see Norvasc and Depression)
- Thirst.
