The most common side effects of the drug

Norvasc, occurring in more than 1 percent of patients, are:

Swelling
Facial flushing
Heart palpitations
Headache (see Norvasc and Headache)
Abdominal pain
Nose bleeds
Excessive sleepiness.

Some people also experience more serious, but rare, side effects that may include:

Slow heart rate (bradycardia)
Extremely low blood pressure
Fainting (syncope)
Numbness of the toes or fingers (peripheral neuropathy)
Insomnia
Diarrhea
Thirst.
