Micardis HCT Interactions

Potassium-Sparing Diuretics
If you are taking both Micardis HCT and a potassium-sparing diuretic, your body may metabolize these drugs differently than intended and/or increase the levels of potassium in your blood. Your healthcare provider may choose to monitor your progress closely if this is the case.

Digoxin
Taking digoxin and Micardis HCT together may increase the levels of digoxin in the blood. When starting or stopping digoxin or changing the digoxin dosage, your healthcare provider may choose to monitor you more closely.

Warfarin
If you are taking warfarin with Micardis HCT, your body may metabolize the warfarin differently than intended. Your healthcare provider may choose to monitor your INR and prothrombin time more frequently and adjust your warfarin dose accordingly. INR and prothrombin time are tests used to measure how well your blood is clotting.

Lithium
If you are taking both Micardis HCT and lithium, your body may metabolize the drugs differently than intended and increase the lithium levels in the blood. For this reason, lithium is generally not recommended in people taking Micardis HCT.

Insulin
Taking insulin with Micardis HCT may cause high blood sugar (hyperglycemia). Based on your particular situation, your healthcare provider may monitor you more closely and/or adjust your dose of insulin as needed.

Oral Diabetes Medications
Taking an oral diabetes medication with Micardis HCT may increase blood sugar levels. Based on your particular situation, your healthcare provider may monitor you more closely and/or adjust your dose of diabetes medications as needed.

Other Blood Pressure Medicines
When you are taking Micardis HCT with another high blood pressure medication, your blood pressure may decrease too much. In order to prevent this Micardis HCT interaction, your healthcare provider may monitor you more closely and/or change the dose of either medicine.
