Maxzide Drug Interactions

If certain medications are taken with Maxzide, drug interactions are possible. These interactions can increase your risk of side effects, such as high potassium levels and low blood pressure, and may also decrease the medicines' effectiveness. If Maxzide drug interactions are a concern, your healthcare provider may adjust your dosages or monitor you more closely.

 

An Overview of Maxzide Drug Interactions

 Maxzide® (triamterene-HCTZ) can potentially interact with a number of other medicines. Some of the medications that can cause Maxzide drug interactions include:
 
 
 
  • Other blood pressure medicines
     
  • Corticosteroids, such as:
     
    • Prednisone
    • Hydrocortisone (Cortef®)
    • Dexamethasone (Decadron®, Dexone®, Hexadrol®)
 
 
  • Potassium-containing products, such as:
     
    • Potassium chloride (K-Dur®, Klor-Con®, Micro-K®)
    • Potassium citrate (Urocit-K®, Polycitra-K®)
    • Potassium gluconate
    • Potassium phosphate (Neutra-Phos-K®, K-Phos®)
    • Salt substitutes (used to flavor food)
