Mavik and PregnancyCertain side effects or complications may develop with the use of Mavik, and pregnancy problems are a potential risk. Pregnant women are usually not recommended to take Mavik, as the drug can cause temporary or permanent problems, including loss of life, to a fetus. A few of the complications sometimes seen with fetuses or newborns exposed to Mavik during pregnancy include deformities of the head and face, as well as developmental problems with the lungs, cardiovascular system, or nervous system. Despite these warnings, a healthcare provider may still prescribe Mavik to a pregnant woman if its benefits outweigh the possible risk to her unborn child.
