Blood Pressure Home > Drug Interactions With Propranolol XL

Other Beta Blockers
Propranolol XL is a beta blocker and should not be combined with other beta blockers, as this may increase the risk of serious side effects.
Thyroid Medications
Propranolol XL may result in lower-than-expected T3 levels in people taking thyroid replacement medications. Your healthcare provider should monitor your thyroid and make any necessary dosage adjustments in your thyroid medication.
Tricyclic Antidepressants
Combining propranolol XL with a tricyclic antidepressant may increase the risk of very low blood pressure. Check with your healthcare provider before taking these medications together.
Propranolol XL may increase the level of warfarin in your blood. Your healthcare provider should monitor you more closely when you start or stop taking propranolol XL (or even if your propranolol XL dosage is changed). Your warfarin dosage may need to be adjusted.
