Although most people who take Monopril-HCT tolerate the medication well, there can be potential side effects of the drug. The most common Monopril-HCT side effects include a headache, cough, fatigue, and dizziness. You should immediately report any serious side effects of Monopril-HCT, such as seizures or an irregular heartbeat, to your healthcare provider. Some of the more rare side effects of this drug can include sexual problems, urinary tract infections, and depression.

An Overview of Monopril-HCT Side Effects

As with any medicine, there are possible side effects associated with Monopril®-HCT (fosinopril sodium-hydrochlorothiazide). However, not everyone who takes Monopril-HCT will experience side effects. In fact, most people tolerate Monopril-HCT well. When side effects do occur, in many cases they are minor, meaning they require no treatment or are easily treated by you or your healthcare provider.

Common Monopril-HCT Side Effects

Extensive clinical trials have looked at the effects of Monopril-HCT on thousands of people worldwide. In these studies, side effects are always documented and compared to side effects that occur in a similar group of people not taking the medicine.
 
Based on these studies, the most common Monopril-HCT side effects include:
 
  • Headache -- occurring in up to 7 percent of people
  • Cough -- up to 5.6 percent (see Fosinopril Cough)
  • Fatigue -- up to 3.9 percent
  • Dizziness -- up to 3.2 percent.
