Blood Pressure Home > Mavik Dosage
For treating high blood pressure, the recommended starting Mavik dosage is 1 mg or 2 mg once daily. Depending on the blood pressure response and/or side effects that may occur, your healthcare provider may choose to increase or decrease your dosage. Also, for people with congestive heart failure or left ventricular dysfunction following a heart attack, the starting Mavik dose is 1 mg once daily. Among the factors that can affect Mavik dosing are other medical conditions you may have and other medications you may be currently taking.
The dose of Mavik® (trandolapril) that your healthcare provider recommends will vary depending on a number of factors, including:
- The medical condition you are being treated for
- Other medical conditions you may have
- Other medications you may be currently taking.
As always, do not adjust your dose unless your healthcare provider specifically instructs you to do so.
The recommended starting dosage of Mavik for most people with high blood pressure (hypertension) is 1 mg or 2 mg once a day. The 2 mg dose is generally recommended for African Americans. Based on the blood pressure response and/or Mavik side effects, the dosage may be increased or decreased. With each change in dosage, it may take several weeks to see the full effects of Mavik. Most people require a final dose of Mavik 2 mg to Mavik 4 mg once a day. It is possible that your healthcare provider may recommend that you take Mavik twice a day.
If you have kidney disease or liver disease (including cirrhosis), your healthcare provider may choose to start with a lower dose of Mavik and monitor you more closely.
