Who Should Not Take Avalide?You should not take Avalide if you are:
- Allergic to Avalide, irbesartan (Avapro®), hydrochlorothiazide (Microzide®, Oretic®), or any of the inactive components used to make the medication. Your healthcare provider or pharmacist has a list of the inactive ingredients.
- Allergic to sulfonamide-derived drugs (also referred to as sulfa drugs). This includes certain types of antibiotics, diabetes medicines, and diuretics.
- Unable to urinate, which may happen in people with severe kidney disease or with kidney stones or tumors.
