Lotrel Drug Interactions

Medications such as diuretics, potassium supplements, and lithium, can interact with Lotrel, causing your body to metabolize the medications differently than intended. For example, these drug interactions can cause your blood pressure to decrease too much or may contribute to kidney damage. To reduce your risk of problems, be sure to talk to your healthcare provider about any drug interactions that may apply to you.

An Overview of Interactions With Lotrel

 Lotrel® (benazepril hydrochloride and amlodipine besylate) can potentially interact with a number of other medicines. Some of these Lotrel interactions can include:
 
 
  • Injectable gold (sodium aurothiomalate)  
  • Lithium (Eskalith®, Lithane®, Lithobid®, Lithonate®, Lithotabs®)
  • Nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), such as:

 

 

  • Potassium-containing products, such as:
     
    • Potassium chloride (K-Dur®, Klor-Con®, Micro-K®)
    • Potassium citrate (Urocit-K®, Polycitra-K®)
    • Potassium gluconate
    • Potassium phosphate (Neutra-Phos-K®, K-Phos®)
    • Salt substitutes (used to flavor food)
