Lotensin HCT Side Effects

Although most people tolerate Lotensin HCT well, there are some potential side effects of the medication, such as dizziness, fatigue, and a cough. In many cases, Lotensin HCT side effects are minor and can be easily treated by you or your healthcare provider. However, there are several side effects of Lotensin HCT that you should report immediately to your healthcare provider, including vomiting, unexplained swelling, or difficulty breathing.

An Overview of Lotensin HCT Side Effects

As with any medicine, there are possible side effects associated with Lotensin HCT® (benazepril hydrochloride and hydrochlorothiazide). However, not everyone who takes Lotensin HCT will experience side effects. In fact, most people tolerate Lotensin HCT well. When side effects do occur, in many cases they are minor, meaning they require no treatment or are easily treated by you or your healthcare provider.

Common Lotensin HCT Side Effects

Extensive clinical trials have looked at the effects of Lotensin HCT on thousands of people worldwide.
 In these studies, side effects are always documented and compared to side effects that occur in a similar group of people not taking the medicine. Based on these studies, the most common Lotensin HCT side effects include:
 
  • Dizziness -- occurring in up to 6.3 percent of people
  • Fatigue -- in up to 5.2 percent
  • Cough -- in up to 2.1 percent (see Lotensin Cough).
