Lotensin HCT Precautions and Warnings

Some Lotensin HCT precautions and warnings include potential drug interactions, allergic reactions, and an increased risk of infections. There are also several situations where Lotensin HCT should not be taken. Prior to taking Lotensin HCT, you should talk with your healthcare provider about any health conditions you may have, such as heart or liver disease, diabetes, or allergies.

Lotensin HCT: What Should I Tell My Healthcare Provider?

Prior to taking

Lotensin HCT^® (benazepril hydrochloride and hydrochlorothiazide), you should talk with your healthcare provider if you have:

Heart disease, including congestive heart failure
Liver disease, including cirrhosis
Kidney disease or kidney failure
Diabetes
Scleroderma
Systemic lupus erythematosus (lupus or SLE)
A personal or family history of angioedema, which is swelling under the skin
Gout
High cholesterol
Pancreatitis
Allergies
Asthma
Fluid or electrolyte problems
Any allergies, including allergies to Lotensin, HCT, other ACE inhibitors, sulfa drugs, foods, dyes, or preservatives.

Also, let your healthcare provider know if you:

Are pregnant or trying to become pregnant (see Lotensin HCT and Pregnancy)
Are breastfeeding
Are on dialysis
Drink alcohol regularly
Will be undergoing surgery or anesthesia.

Tell your healthcare provider about all the medicines you are currently taking, including prescription and non-prescription medicines, vitamins, and herbal supplements.
