Lotensin HCT Drug Interactions

Lithium (Eskalith, Lithane, Lithonate, Lithotabs)
If you are taking both Lotensin HCT and lithium, your body may metabolize the drugs differently than intended and increase the lithium levels in the blood. Your healthcare provider may choose to monitor your serum lithium levels more frequently.
 
Insulin
Taking insulin with Lotensin HCT may cause high blood sugar (hyperglycemia). For your particular situation, your healthcare provider may monitor you more closely and/or adjust your dose of insulin as needed.
 
Oral Diabetes Medication
Taking an oral diabetes medication with Lotensin HCT may increase blood sugar levels. For your particular situation, your healthcare provider may monitor you more closely and/or adjust your dose of diabetes medications as needed.
 
Other Blood Pressure Medicine
When taking Lotensin HCT with another high blood pressure medication, your blood pressure may decrease too much. In order to decrease the chances of this Lotensin HCT interaction, your healthcare provider may monitor you more closely and/or change the dose of either medicine.
 
Alcohol
When taking Lotensin HCT with alcohol, your blood pressure may decrease too much. For your particular situation, make sure to talk with your healthcare provider about drinking alcohol while taking Lotensin HCT.
 
Barbiturates
When taking Lotensin HCT with a barbiturate, your blood pressure may decrease too much. In order to decrease the chances of this Lotensin HCT interaction, your healthcare provider may change the dose of either medicine, start you on a lower dose of Lotensin HCT, and/or monitor you more closely.
 
Narcotics
When taking Lotensin HCT with a narcotic, your blood pressure may decrease too much. In order to decrease the chances of this interaction, your healthcare provider may change the dose of either medicine, start you on a lower dose of Lotensin HCT, and/or monitor you more closely.
