Lopressor® (metoprolol tartrate) is a medication that is prescribed for the treatment of several conditions related to the heart and blood vessels. Among the specific uses for Lopressor are the relief of angina symptoms and the treatment of high blood pressure. The drug can also be administered after a heart attack to help improve the chances of survival. Lopressor side effects may include tiredness, dizziness, a slow heart rate, and diarrhea. If you happen to overdose on Lopressor, you should seek medical attention immediately. Symptoms of a Lopressor overdose can include a severe decrease in heart rate, low blood sugar, and congestive heart failure. Among the available strengths of Lopressor are 50 mg and 100 mg.
