Lopressor Side Effects

Side Effects to Report

Some side effects with Lopressor should be reported immediately to your healthcare provider. These include but are not limited to:
 
  • Unexplained swelling or sudden weight gain (see Metoprolol and Weight Gain)
  • Chest pain
  • Dizziness, lightheadedness, or fainting spells
  • Confusion
  • An irregular heartbeat (arrhythmia)
  • Signs of an allergic reaction, including:
 
    • Unexplained rash
    • Hives
    • Itching
    • Unexplained swelling
    • Wheezing
    • Difficulty breathing or swallowing.
  

Rare Lopressor Side Effects

Rare side effects occurred in less than 1 percent of people taking Lopressor. Given how uncommon these side effects are, however, it can be difficult to tell whether they are actually caused by the medication or something else.
