Some side effects with
Lopressor should be reported immediately to your healthcare provider. These include but are not limited to:
- Unexplained swelling or sudden weight gain (see Metoprolol and Weight Gain)
- Chest pain
- Dizziness, lightheadedness, or fainting spells
- Confusion
- An irregular heartbeat (arrhythmia)
- Signs of an allergic reaction, including:
- Unexplained rash
- Hives
- Itching
- Unexplained swelling
- Wheezing
- Difficulty breathing or swallowing.
Rare Lopressor Side Effects
Rare side effects occurred in less than 1 percent of people taking Lopressor. Given how uncommon these side effects are, however, it can be difficult to tell whether they are actually caused by the medication or something else.
