Lopressor Precautions and Warnings

Some Lopressor precautions and warnings to be aware of include possible drug interactions, the safety of taking Lopressor while pregnant or nursing, and the risk of heart failure or a slow heart rate in some people who take this medicine. A few of the conditions you should let your healthcare provider know about before taking Lopressor include diabetes, depression, and psoriasis. Among the people who should not take Lopressor are those with pheochromocytoma or sick sinus syndrome. Talk with your healthcare provider about the precautions and warnings for Lopressor that may apply to you.

  • Are pregnant or trying to become pregnant (see Metoprolol and Pregnancy)
  • Are breastfeeding
  • Will be undergoing surgery or anesthesia.
     
You should also tell your healthcare provider about all other medicines you may be currently taking, including prescription and non-prescription medicines, antacids, vitamins, and herbal supplements.
