Lopressor Interactions

When certain medications are taken with Lopressor, drug interactions could potentially occur. These interactions may cause your body to metabolize the medicines differently than intended or make your heart rate slow dramatically, among other things. Some of the medicines that can lead to drug interactions include reserpine, calcium channel blockers, and certain antidepressants.

Lopressor Interactions: An Overview

 Lopressor® (metoprolol tartrate) can potentially interact with a number of other medicines. Some of the medications that can lead to drug interactions with Lopressor include:
 
 
 
 
 
  • Certain arrhythmia medications, such as:
     
    • Amiodarone (Cordarone®)
    • Disopyramide (Norpace®, Norpace CR®)
    • Lidocaine (Xylocaine®)
    • Propafenone (Rythmol®)
    • Quinidine
