When and How to Take It

Some general considerations to keep in mind during treatment with Loniten include the following:
  • This medication comes in tablet form. It is usually taken by mouth once or twice a day.
  • Loniten can be taken with or without food. Try taking it with food if it seems to bother your stomach.
  • Your healthcare provider may ask you to check your heart rate regularly and weigh yourself daily while you are taking this medication. This helps you watch for certain serious side effects (see Loniten Warnings and Precautions).
  • Try to take your doses at the same time each day to maintain an even level of the medication in your bloodstream.
  • For Loniten to work properly, it must be taken as prescribed.
