As with many other medications,
lisinopril can cause side effects. Some of the most common problems with lisinopril include:
If side effects do occur, they tend to be minor and either require no treatment or are easily treated by you or your healthcare provider. However, there are some potentially serious problems that require immediate medical attention. Contact your healthcare provider if you experience problems such as:
- Unexplained swelling of the head or neck (including the face, lips, tongue, or throat)
- Difficulty breathing or swallowing
- Abdominal pain (stomach pain), with or without vomiting
- Decrease in the amount of urine produced.
Other lisinopril warnings and precautions apply to women who are pregnant or breastfeeding, as well as people who have certain
allergies (including allergies to foods, dyes, or preservatives). Also, you may not be able to take lisinopril if you have certain medical conditions, such as liver disease,
diabetes, or
scleroderma.
