Lisinopril for Children

Lisinopril is a prescription medication used to treat several conditions related to the heart and blood vessels, such as high blood pressure and congestive heart failure. It can also help improve survival rates following a heart attack.

Lisinopril is approved for several uses in adults. However, for children, the drug is only approved to treat high blood pressure. It should only be used in children who are at least six years old or older; it is not approved for younger children. Talk with your child's healthcare provider about the risks and benefits of using this medicine.

Lisinopril works by blocking a specific enzyme in the body, which causes the blood vessels to relax. As a result, this helps lower blood pressure and increases the efficiency of the heart. This means that the heart does not have to work as hard and more blood can be pumped out to the rest of the body.
