Lasix 80 mg Tablets

Lasix® (furosemide) is a diuretic drug licensed to treat high blood pressure and water retention. It is available by prescription only and comes in three different strengths, including:

  • Lasix 20 mg tablets
  • Lasix 40 mg tablets
  • Lasix 80 mg tablets.

High Blood Pressure
The recommended starting dosage for the treatment of high blood pressure is 40 mg twice daily (for a total 80 mg of Lasix per day). Based on the initial blood pressure response and/or side effects, your healthcare provider may increase or decrease this amount as necessary. With each dosing change, it may take several weeks to see the full effects of this medication on blood pressure.

Water Retention
The recommended dose of Lasix for treating fluid retention can vary between 20 mg and 600 mg daily (taken as a single dose or divided and taken more frequently). Some people will only need to take it when they experience water retention, while others will need to take the medication on a daily basis.
