People who have high blood pressure or fluid retention may benefit from Lasix® (furosemide), a prescription medication that is a type of diuretic. The drug works by increasing the amount of salt and water that the kidneys remove from the blood, reducing blood volume.
The medicine comes in tablet form and is usually taken once or twice a day. Possible side effects include vision changes, headaches, and constipation. As with any medication, it is possible to overdose on Lasix. Seek immediate medical attention if you develop any overdose symptoms, such as dehydration, low blood pressure, or low electrolytes.
