Generic Lasix

Lasix is currently available as a generic under the name furosemide. Generic Lasix is available as a tablet (available in 20 mg, 40 mg, or 80 mg), a liquid, or as an injectable (only for use in hospitals). There are several manufacturers of generic Lasix, including Roxane Laboratories, Ivax Pharmaceuticals, and Mylan Pharmaceuticals.

 

Generic Lasix: An Overview

Lasix® (furosemide) is a prescription medication that has been licensed to treat high blood pressure (hypertension) and water retention (edema). It is part of a group of medications known as loop diuretics.
 
Lasix was first manufactured by Hoechst Roussel Pharmaceuticals. However, it has since come off patent and is available as a generic.

  • Furosemide 10 mg per 5 mL (10 mg per teaspoonful)
  • Furosemide 40 mg per 5 mL (40 mg per teaspoonful).
     
Injectable generic Lasix is also available for use in hospitals.
