Precautions and Warnings With Labetalol

There are numerous precautions and warnings with labetalol to be aware of before starting the medication. Some side effects that may occur with this drug include liver damage, extremely low blood pressure, and heart failure. You should not take labetalol if you have asthma or other breathing problems, severe congestive heart failure, or certain types of irregular heart rhythms.

Labetalol: What Should I Tell My Healthcare Provider?

Before taking
 labetalol hydrochloride (Trandate®), let your healthcare provider know if you have:
 
 
 
Also, let your healthcare provider know if you:
 
  • Are pregnant or trying to become pregnant
  • Are breastfeeding
  • Will be undergoing surgery or anesthesia.
     
Tell your healthcare provider about all other medicines you are taking, including prescription and nonprescription medicines, vitamins, and herbal supplements.
