Labetalol Side Effects to Report

There are a number of side effects with labetalol that you should report immediately to your healthcare provider. These possible serious side effects include, but are not limited to:
 
  • Unexplained skin rash
  • Itching
  • Wheezing
  • Difficulty breathing or swallowing
  • Unexplained swelling or sudden weight gain
  • Chest pain
  • Dizziness, lightheadedness, or fainting spells
  • Sweating, shaking, or extreme hunger
  • Confusion
  • Irregular heartbeat
  • Yellowing of the eyes or skin
  • Dark urine
  • Vomiting
  • Right upper abdomen pain (stomach pain).
     

Rare Side Effects of Labetalol

There are other possible labetalol side effects that can occur. These rare side effects occur in less than 1 percent of people. Given how uncommon they occur, however, it can be difficult to tell whether they are actually caused by the medication or something else.

Labetalol Side Effects: Final Thoughts

It is possible that you may experience some or none of the labetalol side effects explained above. Unfortunately, there is no way for your healthcare provider to know beforehand if you will develop side effects from a medicine that you have never tried. Therefore, make sure to let your healthcare provider know if you develop any side effects or something that "just does not seem right." While it may not be a labetalol side effect, your healthcare provider should be able to diagnose and treat the problem.
