Hair loss appears to be a rare complaint in people taking
labetalol hydrochloride (sold under the brand name
Trandate® and available as a generic). In clinical studies prior to the approval of labetalol, hair loss was reported rarely (by less than 1 percent of people). It is also a rare side effect reported with other beta blockers. In a lot of cases, this hair loss appears to be reversible.
If you experience hair loss while taking labetalol, talk with your healthcare provider. Depending on how severe the hair loss is, there are things that he or she may recommend. It is possible that if hair loss becomes bothersome, or if your healthcare provider believes that the medicine is causing the problem, your doctor may recommend trying another
blood pressure medicine.
