Inderal Dosage

Inderal Dosage for Essential Tremors

For a person with an essential tremor, the starting dose of Inderal is 40 mg twice a day. Based on the tremor response and/or Inderal side effects, your healthcare provider may increase or decrease the Inderal dosage.

Inderal Dosage for Hypertrophic Subaortic Stenosis

The usual dose of Inderal to treat hypertrophic subaortic stenosis is 20 mg to 40 mg, three or four times a day, before meals and at bedtime.

Inderal Dosage for Pheochromocytoma

The usual dose of Inderal for people with inoperable pheochromocytoma is 30 mg a day. This daily amount of Inderal is divided into smaller doses taken several times a day, such as 10 mg three times a day.
For use before a pheochromocytoma surgery, the recommended dosage is 60 mg per day (divided into smaller doses taken throughout the day) for three days before surgery.

General Inderal Dosage Information

Some considerations for people taking Inderal include:
  • Your Inderal dosage should be taken by mouth with a glass of water.
  • It is usually recommended to take Inderal on an empty stomach.

  • Make sure to take Inderal at the same time each day to maintain even levels of medication in the blood.
  • For Inderal to work properly, you have to take it as prescribed. The drug will not work if you take in a way other than how your healthcare provider has prescribed.
  • If you do not take your Inderal as scheduled, take your next dose as soon as you remember. If it is almost time for the next scheduled dose, skip the missed one and continue with normal dosing. Do not take a double dose.
  • You should not stop taking Inderal without first discussing it with your healthcare provider. Stopping Inderal abruptly may increase the risk of serious side effects (see Inderal Precautions and Warnings).
  • If you are unsure about anything related to Inderal or your specific Inderal dosage, talk with your doctor, nurse, or pharmacist. Also, as emphasized above, do not adjust your Inderal dose unless your healthcare provider specifically instructs you to do so.
