ACE Inhibitors
Combining
Exforge HCT with ACE inhibitors can increase your risk of high potassium levels in your blood (hyperkalemia). Your healthcare provider should check your potassium levels regularly.
Alcohol
Drinking alcohol while taking Exforge HCT can increase your risk of low
blood pressure, especially when sitting or standing up suddenly. Talk to your healthcare provider about combining alcohol with Exforge HCT.
Amiloride or Amiloride-HCTZ
Exforge HCT may interact with
amiloride. Taking these two medications together increases your risk of high potassium levels (hyperkalemia).
Angiotensin II Receptor Blockers (ARBs)
Exforge HCT contains an ARB medication (
valsartan). Combining Exforge HCT with other ARBs can increase your risk of high potassium levels in your blood (hyperkalemia). Your healthcare provider should check your potassium levels regularly.
Carbamazepine
Combining Exforge HCT with
carbamazepine may lead to dangerously low levels of sodium in the blood. If you must take these medications together, your healthcare provider will need to monitor you closely.
Digoxin
Exforge HCT should be used carefully in people taking
digoxin. Exforge HCT can cause high potassium levels (hyperkalemia), which can be especially dangerous for people taking digoxin.
Eplerenone
