Side Effects of Eprosartan/HCTZ

Some of the most common side effects of eprosartan/HCTZ include dizziness, fatigue, and headaches. However, most people tolerate the drug well; when side effects occur, they are typically minor and easily treated. Serious problems are also possible. Notify your healthcare provider immediately if you are experiencing problems such as difficulty breathing, chest pain, or problems urinating.

An Introduction to Side Effects of Eprosartan/HCTZ

Just like any medicine, eprosartan/HCTZ (Teveten® HCT) can cause side effects. However, not everyone who takes the medication will have problems. In fact, most people tolerate it quite well. If side effects do occur, in most cases, they are minor and either require no treatment or are treated easily by you or your healthcare provider.

Serious Eprosartan/HCTZ Side Effects

Some side effects of eprosartan/HCTZ are potentially serious and should be reported immediately to your healthcare provider. These include but are not limited to:
  • Chest pain
  • Feelings of a rapidly or forcefully beating heart (heart palpitations)
  • Swelling of the face, lips, tongue, throat, hands, or feet
  • Eye pain or changes in vision
  • Unexplained blisters or peeling of the skin
  • Signs of very low blood pressure, such as dizziness, lightheadedness, or fainting
  • Decreased urine production
  • Abdominal (stomach) pain
  • Signs of infection, including high fever, sore throat, or aches and pains
  • Symptoms of an electrolyte imbalance, such as:
    • Dry mouth
    • Increased thirst
    • Weakness
    • Tiredness
    • Restlessness
    • Muscle tiredness, aches, or cramps
    • Increased heart rate
    • Nausea and vomiting
  • Signs of liver problems, such as:
    • Dark urine
    • Loss of appetite
    • Fatigue or excessive tiredness
    • Pain in the right upper part of the abdomen (stomach)
    • Yellowing of the whites of the eyes or skin (jaundice)
  • Signs of an allergic reaction, such as:
    • An unexplained rash
    • Hives
    • Itching
    • Swelling of the mouth or throat
    • Wheezing
    • Difficulty breathing.
