Enalapril uses may include lowering high blood pressure and treating symptoms of congestive heart failure (CHF). Other uses for enalapril involve treating left ventricular dysfunction. Based on clinical studies, enalapril has been shown to significantly lower systolic and diastolic blood pressure. The higher the dose of enalapril, the greater the drop in blood pressure tended to be. By lowering blood pressure, enalapril can decrease the risks that occur with long-term high blood pressure (see Effects of High Blood Pressure); however, enalapril is not a cure for high blood pressure.
