What Should I Tell My Doctor Before Taking Enalapril Maleate?

Before taking Enalapril Maleate tablets, you should let your healthcare provider know if you have:

  • Are pregnant or trying to become pregnant (see Enalapril and Pregnancy).
  • Are breastfeeding
  • Are on dialysis
  • Will be undergoing surgery or anesthesia.
     
Tell your healthcare provider about all the medicines you are currently taking, including prescription and non-prescription medicines, vitamins, and herbal supplements.
 
Do not take any salt substitutes containing potassium without first discussing it with your healthcare provider.

Can I Overdose on Enalapril Maleate?

People who take too many Enalapril Maleate tablets may have enalapril overdose symptoms that could include:
 
  • Lightheadedness, dizziness, or fainting
  • Decrease in urine output
  • Drowsiness, headache, or back pain
  • Slow or irregular heartbeat.
 
If you happen to overdose on Enalapril Maleate tablets, seek medical attention immediately.
