Who Makes This Medication?
Edarbyclor is made by Takeda Pharmaceuticals America, Inc.
How Does Edarbyclor Work?
One of the medicines in Edarbyclor, chlorthalidone, is a diuretic ("water pill").
It works by removing excess salt and water from the body. The extra salt and water are removed from the body by the kidneys and pass out through the urine. The removal of salt and water decreases blood volume, resulting in
lower blood pressure.
The other component of this medication, azilsartan, belongs to a class of drugs called angiotensin II receptor blockers (ARBs). Angiotensin II is a naturally occurring chemical in the body that causes blood vessels to narrow (constrict). By blocking angiotensin II, azilsartan helps to relax the blood vessels, thereby
lowering blood pressure.
