Edarbyclor

Edarbyclor is a combination medication prescribed to treat high blood pressure. It contains two active ingredients, which work by reducing blood volume and relaxing the blood vessels. This medicine comes in tablet form and is taken once daily. Although most people tolerate this drug well, side effects can occur and may include dizziness and fatigue.

What Is Edarbyclor?

Edarbyclor™ (azilsartan/chlorthalidone) is a prescription medication licensed to treat hypertension, more commonly called high blood pressure. It is a combination of two other prescription medicines: azilsartan (Edarbi®) and chlorthalidone (Thalitone®).

How Does Edarbyclor Work?

One of the medicines in Edarbyclor, chlorthalidone, is a diuretic ("water pill").
 It works by removing excess salt and water from the body. The extra salt and water are removed from the body by the kidneys and pass out through the urine. The removal of salt and water decreases blood volume, resulting in lower blood pressure.
 
The other component of this medication, azilsartan, belongs to a class of drugs called angiotensin II receptor blockers (ARBs). Angiotensin II is a naturally occurring chemical in the body that causes blood vessels to narrow (constrict). By blocking angiotensin II, azilsartan helps to relax the blood vessels, thereby lowering blood pressure.
