The recommended starting Diovan dosage for people with congestive heart failure is 40 mg twice a day. After a couple of weeks, your healthcare provider may increase this amount to a target dose of 80 mg to 160 mg twice a day. If side effects occur, a lower dose may be recommended.

The recommended starting dose of Diovan following a heart attack is 20 mg twice a day. Every couple of weeks, your healthcare provider may increase your dosage up to a target amount of Diovan 160 mg twice a day. If side effects occur, a lower amount may be recommended.
