Diovan HCT Drug Interactions

Other Blood Pressure Medicines
When taking Diovan HCT with another high blood pressure medication, your blood pressure may decrease too much. In order to decrease the chances of this Diovan HCT interaction, your healthcare provider may monitor you more closely and/or change the dose of either medicine.
 
Alcohol
When taking Diovan HCT with alcohol, your blood pressure may decrease too much. For your particular situation, make sure to talk with your healthcare provider about drinking alcohol while taking Diovan HCT.
 
Barbiturates
When taking Diovan HCT with a barbiturate, your blood pressure may decrease too much. In order to decrease the chances of this Diovan HCT interaction, your healthcare provider may change the dose of either medicine, start you on a lower dose of Diovan HCT, and/or monitor you more closely.
 
Narcotics
When taking Diovan HCT with a narcotic, your blood pressure may decrease too much. In order to decrease the chances of this interaction, your healthcare provider may change the dose of either medicine, start you on a lower dose of Diovan HCT, and/or monitor you more closely.
 
Cholestyramine (Prevalite, Questran, Questran Light, LoCholest)
Cholestyramine can bind to Diovan HCT in the digestive tract and decrease its absorption into the body. Diovan HCT should be taken at least one hour before, or four to six hours after, cholestyramine has been given to avoid this drug interaction.
 
Colestipol (Colestid)
Colestipol can bind to Diovan HCT in the digestive tract and decrease its absorption into the body. Diovan HCT should be taken at least one hour before, or four to six hours after, colestipol has been given to avoid this drug interaction.
