Cozaar^®is a prescription drug that is used to treat high blood pressure and diabetic nephropathy. The drug comes in a tablet form and is available in a number of strengths, including 25 mg, 50 mg, and 100 mg. By lowering blood pressure, Cozaar can decrease the risks (such as a stroke) that are seen with long-term high blood pressure. For people with diabetic nephropathy, the effects of Cozaar have been shown to slow the progression of diabetic nephropathy, resulting in less kidney damage and a decreased chance for developing serious complications (such as the need for kidney dialysis). Potential side effects of Cozaar may include dizziness, back pain, nasal congestion, and infection.
