Cozaar Dosage

For people who are treating diabetic nephropathy with Cozaar, dosage recommendations generally start at 50 mg once a day. For the treatment of high blood pressure, most patients start with a daily dose of 50 mg and will typically need a final Cozaar dosage of 25 mg to 100 mg per day, taken in either one dose or two smaller doses. Children who are being treated for high blood pressure typically start with a dosage of 0.7 mg per kilogram of body weight once daily.

Cozaar Dosage: An Introduction

The dose of Cozaar® (losartan potassium) that your healthcare provider recommends will vary depending on a number of factors, including:

  • The medical condition you are being treated for
  • Other medical conditions you may have
  • Other medications you may be currently taking
  • How you respond to Cozaar.

As is always the case, do not adjust your dose unless your healthcare provider specifically instructs you to do so.

The recommended starting dosage of Cozaar for most people with high blood pressure (hypertension) is Cozaar 50 mg once a day.
