Coreg® (carvedilol) is a prescription drug that may be used to treat high blood pressure (hypertension) and congestive heart failure. It can also be used in people with a recent history of a heart attack to improve survival. Coreg is part of a class of drugs called beta blockers, meaning that it blocks beta receptors, which helps to decrease heart rate, systolic and diastolic blood pressure, and the workload on the heart. Unlike a lot of other beta blockers, Coreg also blocks alpha receptors. A few of the conditions you should let your healthcare provider know about before you take Coreg include bronchitis, asthma, and emphysema.
