Coreg Alternatives

Coreg® (carvedilol) is a prescription medication used to treat a variety of conditions that affect the heart or blood vessels. If you experience bothersome Coreg side effects, or if the medication is not adequately controlling your condition, several alternatives to Coreg are available.

Some of these substitutes include other blood pressure medications, such as:

  • Beta blockers
  • Diuretics
  • Angiotensin II receptor blockers (ARBs)
  • Calcium channel blockers (CCBs)
  • Angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE) inhibitors
  • Alpha blockers
  • Alpha-beta blockers
  • Nervous system inhibitors
  • Vasodilators.

It's possible that your healthcare provider will need to try a few different types of medications to determine which Coreg alternative is best for you.

(Click Blood Pressure Medicine for a more in-depth look at possible alternatives to Coreg. This article offers a list of the various medications that can be used if Coreg is not working for your condition or if it is causing unwanted side effects.)
